5 Ways to avoid Procrastination
Asalama Alaykum Guys.
We all have this problem, it might be more problematic for some than others but at least everyone has experienced it, so I thought I might give you tips on how combat it and this might work for you or it might not, you just have to test it. So here we go.
1. Don’t fight it
I know, you were thinking I was going to say fight it but really, having moments were you let your mind wander about whatever you are interested at the moment is very essential. Our brain is like an engine and it requires a lot of resting and letting it do its own thing is the best way. The way people before us used to avoid this was going out to the nature and letting your thoughts runaway for a moment.
2. Plan while you are in the procrastination.
What I mean by this is to have goal and aim to what you will do after letting your mind wonder for a moment. Most people spend a lot of time in social media, such as facebook, twitter or youtube but don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling to spend all your time in viewing useless content but limit whatever you viewing.
3. Get Motivated.
What happens many times is that we lose focus of what is important to us, what we want out of life and we get caught in the moment and become busy with very unnecessary stuff. But when you surround yourself with people or even content such as lectures which give boost and motivate you, you will find yourself becoming more productive and organized.
4. Get a Support Group.
Do you know someone who is interested in the same things you are interested in? get that person and several others and make meetings, they don’t have to be super organized but at least once a week, where each person talks about where they are on their project or study. This will help you stay on top of what you need to do since the group wants to hear what you have accomplish.
5. Time is running out!
For me, the best motivator is TIME, we really don’t have enough of it and we can leave this world at any moment and you want to leave this world when you accomplished something. I always tell myself that with these few years I have, I want to make them the most productive years and I don’t want to regret them when I die.
But the best of all, As Muslims we have to make dua always, Ask Allah to help us as the prophet (pbuh) did.
O Allāh! I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief, and I seek refuge in You from weakness and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt, and the tyranny of men.
